Emerg Alert Men's Deluxe Silver Tone Flexible Chain Medical ID Bracelet Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I'm hesitant to write a negative review for this product because the customer service was exemplary. However, this is a review of the product and not the company, and the product is pure garbage.
It's a cheap chrome ordeal, which you probably expected, but it's so cheap that the first one I received fell apart within a matter of days with absolutely no abuse at all. I complained, and customer service shipped me a new one that they inspected personally, and it has held up ever since (couple months now). The rep I dealt with was cordial and responsive.
Construction not withstanding, i still feel it's a bad product. Basically, it's a metal case that holds a slip of paper. The metal case is not waterproof, and it locks together with friction and no other locking mechanism, which makes it a pain to pry open. I imagine this would be a problem if you're bleeding out in some car accident and the EMT is desperately trying to find out that you are on blood thinners but can't get this thing open with his gloved fingers. The piece of paper is in their special "water resistant pouch", which is literally a piece of thin plastic that you fold around the piece of paper and hope that moisture doesn't find its way in the open side.
The clasp is nearly impossible to negotiate if you try to put it on anything but the very end, and the bracelet will be much too long. I can now put it on myself most days, but if you have arthritis or unsteady hands for any reason, forget about it. I guess a better solution is to somehow remove rings off the chain, and put the end ring on one of the middle chains. I do not have the wherewithal to do this, and I'd prefer a one-size-fits-all approach. This is made a bigger deal because you have to take the thing off and put it on any time you encounter water, so you might just end up giving up on the thing altogether most days.
I would recommend finding an engraved bracelet. This thing is just garbage, and I guess can be used in a pinch. It also looks good, if that's a consideration for you.
