Emerg Alert Women's Deluxe Gold Tone Flexible Chain Medical ID Bracelet Review

I thought this medical ID was interesting because it had a space for inserting a note about one's medical problems rather than relying on a simple one or two word warning. Unfortunately, the clasp on the bracelet comes open all the time, and my note has long since been lost.
Also, the chain has a plastic-like feel to it. Is there any metal in it at all?
I will have to buy another brand, and this one wasn't cheap, either.

We are using this product to stabilize and lower our blood sugar counts. It is working great! Got a good price from this company.

Chromium & Vanadium This combination of minerals is especially helpful for people with blood sugar difficulties as both minerals assist in glucose metabolism. Chromium & Vanadium have been reported to help those with Type II diabetes. Studies on chromium GTF and vanadium have proved so promising that Natural Factors has combined these nutrient into one convenient nutritional supplement. Chromium: is a component of a molecule called Glucose Tolerance Factor that regulates blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for both high and low blood sugar problems. The hormone insulin will not work without chromium. As a ‘master hormone' insulin regulates much more than blood sugar levels--it also controls fat, protein and energy metabolism, so any insulin imbalance can have far-reaching negative health effects. When we get enough chromium our sensitivity to insulin is improved and blood sugar levels may become normalized, whereas insufficient chromium may be responsible for hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, glycosuria and insulin resistance. Chromium does not stimulate the body to make more insulin, rather it makes insulin that is already present work more effectively. Out of 16 well-designed studies on the effect of chromium supplementation on diabetics, 13 studies showed blood glucose improvement with chromium supplementation. "Chromium in the form of the GTF is released into the blood...whenever there is a marked increase in the blood levels of sugar (glucose) and/or of insulin. Hence, the GTF might be considered to behave like a hormone. It, along with insulin, acts in making it easier for amino acids, fatty acids, and sugars to pass f

Medcenter System Talking Monthly Pill Reminder & Organizer Review

Medcenter System Talking Monthly Pill Reminder and Organizer

As a Registered Nurse I realize how important it is to take your medications on a regular basis. Often times certain medications should be spaced at specific intervals. This gadget does it all for you. It's simple to set up and even simple to use. I used to recommend the Timex system that is no longer manufactured. When I found this system online, I thought I would give it a try as I work with individuals with brain injuries and a monthly set up would be such a time saver for them or their advocates who set up their medications.
I was right. This system is fantastic. I use it myself due to the need for around the clock pain management medications. I can set the timer to alert me of my every 8 hour medication and I don't have to worry if I am taking my medication too soon or too late. I would recommend this system to anyone who wants to simplify their lives. The company who makes this product even has it set up where you can purchase specific replacement boxes for 1 dollar each should you lose or break one. Take my advice, You won't find a better medication administration system other than another human being. If you are sighted, you can use this system without difficulty. I don't know at this point if this company makes a system utilizing braile or not, but am sure they would consider it if enough people would want and/or utilize it.
Thank you for such an easy to use set up and administraton system for those of us that need a little reminder every now and then.

Protector Insulin Case - Blue Review

Protector Insulin Case - Blue

I purchased my Medicool insulin protector when I was diagnosed with Type 1 back in April of 1993 and I've had the same one since then. It has traveled all over the world with me, including trips to France, Hawaii, and all over the Caribbean. Throughout, it has been a tough traveler, keeping my insulin cool in the summer, and temp stable in cold weather. I keep thinking that I should get another one, but mine still looks new and does it's job, every time I travel. :>)

Kids Adjustable Wrist Band Medical Alert ID Bracelet ~ Blue Review

Kids Adjustable Wrist Band Medical Alert ID Bracelet ~ Blue

My 3yr old also likes to take it off and take the information page out - but really if your child will keep it on and not play in the mud - it's really good ;) I have not tried to wash it yet - I won't know about the durability of it at that level until I try it. I like the bright colors and the style is neat! He says it's his watch and wants to show everyone. I think next time I'll order Black - shouldn't show as much dirt.

Emerg Alert Men's Deluxe Silver Tone Flexible Chain Medical ID Bracelet Review

Emerg Alert Men's Deluxe Silver Tone Flexible Chain Medical ID Bracelet

I'm hesitant to write a negative review for this product because the customer service was exemplary. However, this is a review of the product and not the company, and the product is pure garbage.
It's a cheap chrome ordeal, which you probably expected, but it's so cheap that the first one I received fell apart within a matter of days with absolutely no abuse at all. I complained, and customer service shipped me a new one that they inspected personally, and it has held up ever since (couple months now). The rep I dealt with was cordial and responsive.
Construction not withstanding, i still feel it's a bad product. Basically, it's a metal case that holds a slip of paper. The metal case is not waterproof, and it locks together with friction and no other locking mechanism, which makes it a pain to pry open. I imagine this would be a problem if you're bleeding out in some car accident and the EMT is desperately trying to find out that you are on blood thinners but can't get this thing open with his gloved fingers. The piece of paper is in their special "water resistant pouch", which is literally a piece of thin plastic that you fold around the piece of paper and hope that moisture doesn't find its way in the open side.
The clasp is nearly impossible to negotiate if you try to put it on anything but the very end, and the bracelet will be much too long. I can now put it on myself most days, but if you have arthritis or unsteady hands for any reason, forget about it. I guess a better solution is to somehow remove rings off the chain, and put the end ring on one of the middle chains. I do not have the wherewithal to do this, and I'd prefer a one-size-fits-all approach. This is made a bigger deal because you have to take the thing off and put it on any time you encounter water, so you might just end up giving up on the thing altogether most days.
I would recommend finding an engraved bracelet. This thing is just garbage, and I guess can be used in a pinch. It also looks good, if that's a consideration for you.
