No Salt Salt Alternative, Seasoned, 3.25-Ounce Shakers (Pack of 12) Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)While it is true that potassium chloride may be harmful to people with renal failure or those taking certain types of medications that can increase potassium levels, for the average healthy person KCl is a MUCH better alternative than regular salt. The average American gets way too much sodium, and too little potassium in their diet. A high potassium and low sodium diet is much more healthy and natural than the usual American diet. Certainly, if you have health issues you should consult your physician, but for most people reducing the amount of sodium in their diet would be a smart move. Switching to KCL (No-Salt) takes a little getting used to. For the first week or so it tastes a little bit like soap, but your taste buds quickly get used to it, and now I prefer the taste of KCL to regular salt. One additional thing, there is good scietific evidence that increasing the ratio of posassium to sodium in your diet may reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure in the future for otherwise healthy individuals. There was even one study from the University of Tennessee that implicated sodium as one of the main factors in developing high blood pressure. As a physician in my mid 50's, I have used No-Salt exclusively for about 10 years, and have normal blood pressure, and no health problems. As always with what you read on the internet, be careful and research it for yourself!
