I bought the Medicool Insulin Travelling Case about 2 weeks ago for a business trip I went to in Michigan. First of all, this case is somewhat bulky. The interior of the case is make of dark styrofoam and there are two trays ( 1 is a spare )filled with liquid that you cool in the fridge--not freezer, as insulin should never be frozen--but the fridge. The outside pouch fits about 10-14 syringes. Airport security by the way did not hassle me, as I thought they would. I left the case in my laptop carry on both ways, going and returning. I flew from San Francisco to Detroit and back again 4 days later. This is a 4 hr 50 min flight and I have to say that after each leg of the trip the contents of the cooler were not all that cold! Not exactly warm, but barely cold. I would hate to think how long it would keep my insulin cool on a long road trip in the scorching heat like some of the camping trips I've been on. So I have to say that I am not impressed and cannot really recommend this product. I say that it should be able to keep insulin cool for at least 6-8 hours...but it barely does.
