My most sincere congratulations to Dr. Zheng for a wonderful handbook. It is comprehensive, easy to use, and up-to-date. The pages are jam-packed with useful information that is outlined in a crystal-clear manner. I strongly recommend it for medical students, residents, and attendings alike. It has everything: basic chapters outlining knot-tying techniques and operative reports, excellent chapters dedicated to the diagnosis and management of obstetrical and gynecological problems, and essential and easy-to-follow information from the subspecialties. The newest ACOG recommendations including the new guidelines for the management of cervical dysplasia are clearly presented. Without any doubt, the Comprehensive Handbook was for me the one study material with the highest yield when preparing for the Oral Boards. Again, my most sincere congratulations.

This pocket-sized book provides the most up-to-date and vital information on obstetrical and gynecological problems in a concise, portable format. It focuses on diagnosis and therapy, including management protocols, medications, and dosages. Common problems such as normal labor and delivery, preterm labor, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, cervical cancer screening, contraception, and STD, are covered in greater detail. Key facts on uncommon conditions, such as uterine inversion, puerperal SPT, chancroid, gonadal dysgenesis, and vaginal cancer, are also presented. Medical students and interns can find pearls on pelvic and breast examinations and cervical examinations during labor, and they can also prepare confidently for quizzes by quickly glancing over the terminology, etiology, and other background information or using the handbook s mnemonics to recall the key points. Seasoned clinicians will find most recent guidelines on cancer screening, antibiotic prophylaxis, thrombosis prevention, and subspecialty referral. Operative techniques and procedures such as knot-tying, instrument use, perineal laceration repair, amniocentesis, and measurement of AFI and cervical length are illustrated to help trainees learn the basic skills. Thirteen operative dictations describe the common procedures with the latest techniques, ideal for junior residents who face a seemingly daunting task. The bullet-and-number format, full-color illustrations, color-coded sections, and open-flat design make the information easy to find and pleasant to read. Primary Care in Obstetrics and Gynecology: A Handbook for Clinicians Review

Primary Care in Obstetrics and Gynecology: A Handbook for Clinicians
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this book as a guide for my rotation in OB/GYN as a family nurse practitioner student, and I was severely disappointed. I thought it would help me assess and manage OB (and GYN) patients from a primary provider perspective, as its title suggests. However, this book does NOT contain any information on managing the OB patient, except for part of one chapter devoted to routine screening. It includes sections on various common topics covered in better depth in my other textbooks, such as mood disorders, HTN, CVD, GI, respiratory, and the like.
Almost none of the information in this book added to my knowledge base, but it is in a compact, useable text for women's health issues, if you need a go-to reference for that. That is the only reason I gave it two stars.

The Whole Pregnancy Handbook: An Obstetrician's Guide to Integrating Conventional and Alternative Medicine Before, During, and After Pregnancy Review

The Whole Pregnancy Handbook: An Obstetrician's Guide to Integrating Conventional and Alternative Medicine Before, During, and After Pregnancy
Average Reviews:

I am currently pregnant with my second child and thought I did not need any more pregnancy books. However, I was recently browsing in a bookstore and came across the Whole Pregnancy Handbook and quickly found myself engrossed in its clear explanations of pregnancy and birth and the conventional and alternative approaches to both routine and more unusual pregnancy and birth situations. In the past, I have been put off by "over-zealous" pregnancy books so I loved the way that this book offers clear, non-alarmist and non-judgmental information on a wide range of ways to promote healthy pregnancy, babies and birth. The anecdotes from real women are particularly great--- they give you a sense of how many different women experience pregnancy and birth. I also loved the yoga section and the timeline that describes what is happening in the mother's body and in the fetus month-by-month throughout the pregnancy. I recommend this book highly for anyone who is looking for "one-stop shopping" that brings together a wide range of approaches to conception, pregnancy and birth that, until now, have been isolated from one another in "conventional" and "alternative" pregnancy books.

This book is good on pregnancy complications if thats all you need.
it is not a compact version of the big book and can not be considered a "pocket version" of Williams Obstetrics.
