(More customer reviews)This is an excellent book for parents of children injured at birth as a result of shoulder dystocia. My own son suffered a permanent brachial plexus injury at birth due to shoulder dystocia and this book is one of the most valuable pieces of information that I have found in six years of research. Although intended for use as a textbook, Dr. O'Leary's clear and organized writing style will appeal to those of us not in the medical field as well. Dr. O'Leary explains the risk factors for shoulder dystocia, the accepted procedures for relieving a shoulder dystocia during delivery, and includes a valuable and informative section on litigation, a subject that parents of children with permanent injuries resulting from this obstetrical emergency will no doubt become familiar with sooner or later. It is very well-written, professional, and enlightening. Highly recommended.
