This book is more in depth than blueprints pediatrics. A lot more pages to go through so you have to be disciplined. The best part is they start from step one and explain concepts. Versus blueprints which seems to assume you already know the concepts and they point out the more important details to know for Step 2. The neonatology and cardiology sections were great, so I read them instead of the corresponding sections in blueprints. I think there are a lot of wonderful sections to read to get a good foundation on pathophysiology. Some NMS books (like NMS Medicine) have come out with the 5th edition 2004 - which has a nicer layout, larger book size, easier on the eyes, and some nice algorithms & tables. You might want to wait for the 5th edition of Pediatrics.

NMS Pediatrics, Fifth Edition is the ideal reference and review for medical students in the pediatrics clerkship. The concise, outline-format coverage of essentials and end-of-chapter USMLE-style questions offer excellent preparation for the shelf/end-of-rotation exam and USMLE.
This thoroughly updated edition focuses on areas emphasized in the most current Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) curriculum. The revised questions better reflect the level of difficulty of shelf/end-of-rotation exams. The book has a new two-color design and wider margins for notes.
A companion Website offers the fully searchable text, case studies, and a comprehensive examination.
