(More customer reviews)I used this book in preparation for the Shelf exam in OB/GYN and it was extremely helpful. Several questions on the exam were straight out of these vignettes. The varied style- some case info, some reading, some questions- for each vignette helped to maintain focus, and for me provided a much better prep than just the short questions found in many other books.

Obviously, this book alone is not enough to prepare for USMLE Step 2, but the great thing about this book is that it really focus on the disease and keywords that actually appear in the exam (e.g. vaginitis, OCP, amenorrhea, eclampsia etc). You pick up this book, see any of the scenario and if you cannot guess the diagnosis by reading through the history and findings, or any of the highlighted keywords on the scenario is unfamiliar to you, you need to buy this book. If you can, forget about this series, and work on simulated tests.

(More customer reviews)I was surprised, the PreTest series is very good for shelf review and USMLE Step 2 CK. Both questions and answers are detailed and explanatory. It's like a Qbook, but small enough that you can take with you on travels (like when doing rotations or if ur trying to do Step 2 while interviewing) to give you practice with questions when you don't have access to an online Qbank. Has imaging questions too!

It is not a treatise and it is not intended to be so, quite the contrary. It is a pocket book, easy to carry and to manipulate. It cover all the topics you might need for your day to day life in the hospital in a short , but not too short, and up to date format. I like the fact that you can read any chapter in less than 30 minutes. I recommend this book for medical students in need of a compact book to carry during the GOB internship or for revising topics before an exam.

Boards and Wards (Boards and Wards Series) Review

In particular, it helped me polish up on dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, and radiology - subjects not well covered in the other review books I used, and subjects which had an appreciable presence on USMLE Step 2. It also helped me review OB/GYN at the last minute. Look out for errors, though - others in my class found flaws in the medicine section, for example. Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars. Worth the price for all the high-yield information packed in this little green book.
