(More customer reviews)I tried (and am still sometimes using) the Accu-Chek Multiclix.
The loading of a number of lances is a nice idea. The hole is offset to one side and is, in fact, easier to place the lancing spot accurately! However, the lance button is on the side (as have been the others I have used), and -In My Opinion - is inferior to the Softclix Plus's end. Also, often the priming the device occasionally/often does not "take", and I have to push the top button a second/third time.
The Multiclix's multi-lance magazine is nice, but not very useful to me. Now I hate to go against medical advice, but I use the same lance a great number of times. It is (as on almost all devices) inside the device so it doesn't get touched except when it quickly goes in and out. If it got infected, then it would have infected me the first time it lanced me. THIS IS NOT TRUE IF MORE THAN ONE PERSON USES THE SAME DEVICE!!!! (In that case always always change the lance!) IF there is the slightist hint that the lance got touched or otherwise contaminated, I replace it *immediately*. So if you follow my example -- not recommended -- be wise, and careful.
Accu-Check Softclix Plus is the best I've used. I've tried a (small) number of lancing devices in my 55 years of being an insulin dependent diabetic. Of course I didn't/couldn't start testing blood for a great many of those years (for years, only urine tests for the home).
I like that the action to prime and lance are the same, just push the button! Separate pushes. Once to prime, then again to lance. It is quick and easy. When I ordered my first one I also ordered two others. One was a cute little thing -- that I didn't like. Too small for me and I don't think I liked the feel of the lancing either. Cute thou!
Anyway, I rate the "Accu-Check Softclix plus" very highly. I'm buying a second once since I have two kits, and I would hate it if/when one got destroyed/lost and they stopped making them. Note: a number of different lances work (unlike the Multiclix), so if you don't like the lances, try another brand of lance!
